Backstage at the circus: on the right a picker is guarding a dog hitched to a small carriage. Two costumed monkeys are sitting, one in the car and one on the dog. In the middle a clown musician sits with a violin between his legs. To the left, a group of four children and a woman separated by a small fence from a trained pony. In the centre another child is playing the accordion. In the background the ring in the light with a rider and an acrobat.
