A long theory of travellers is heading to the Saintes-Maries de la Mer for the pilgrimage. We see in particular a man orchestra, a bear showman.

Plate described in the Bibliographie de la France (May 9, 1924, p. 132, no. 1507: Vers les Saintes-Maries de la mer, original etching by Brouet, 0.240×0.425 bearing four different remarques; 1st state: 10 proofs, at 1000 fr; 2nd state: 10 proofs on Arches paper, at 1000 fr; 3rd state and print run: 100 proofs on Arches paper, at 800 fr). A preparatory drawing at Childs Gallery. A set of state prints was sold in 2010 (Petiet collection, PIASA, 3 June 2010, lot no. 59).
